Although at times it may look like there is more play than learning, students are encouraged to select from a wide range of play with teachers incorporating learning. This format stimulates creativity and self-expression.

Students are encouraged to visit organized centers within their class rooms which are comprised of five. Those centers represent creative art, reading, math, dramatic play and fine motor development. Daily schedules include free choice of time which are spent in the learning centers with group times for movement, storytelling, music and drama. Instruction is both student directed as well as teacher directed. Creativity develops self-confidence and self-expression. Teachers work with the students to be sure that while they express feelings, they are also shown the appropriate way to express those feelings by using their words. They also learn to be considerate of peers, people and things. We encourage communication and incorporate Sign Language and Spanish into our program in August through December.

There is outdoor time allowing children the use of motor skills that cannot be developed within the class room. Unless there are extreme conditions because of bad weather, students will have outside play time scheduled into their day. The state of Georgia encourages outside play.
